Facing 149 balls, Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 10 fours in his innings. He was the only Indian batsman to put up a fight against the spin duo of Shoaib Bashir and Tom Hartley, who took seven wickets together. Jaiswal built important partnerships with Shubman Gill (38), Rajat Patidar (17), and Ravindra Jadeja (12), guiding India to 219 for 7 by stumps, still trailing by 134 runs.

He also set a new record for the most runs by an Indian opener in a Test series, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar’s 732 runs against West Indies in 1978-79.
