The 23-year-old, who debuted in the previous Test in Rajkot with a score of 46, displayed his ability to adapt as he switched from defense to attack, confidently facing England’s spinners.

Jurel partnered well with Kuldeep Yadav (28) and Akash Deep (16), adding crucial runs for the eighth and ninth wickets, respectively. Although he missed out on a century by just 10 runs, his innings was the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in the fourth innings of a Test.

Dhruv Jurel, from Uttar Pradesh, plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He expressed his focus on helping India win the series rather than regretting missing out on a personal milestone. He also impressed with his wicketkeeping skills, managing the spinners effectively on a turning track. He attributed his success to his willingness to take on challenges and learn from senior players.

Following Jurel’s outstanding performance, India’s spin trio dismissed England for 145 runs in their second innings, setting up a target of 192 for the hosts. India ended the day at 40/0, needing another 152 runs to win the series 3-1 and qualify for the World Test Championship final.
